JUNIORS SECTION Preseason A few juniors have had a specialist session with David Saker & will continue for the next few weeks. David took 247 wickets in 72 first class matches for Victoria & Tasmania and is recently the assistant to Greg Shippard with the Dehli Daredevils in the IPL. 16-3’s finished the season on a disappointing note with a loss to Warranwood.
With that went the chance to play finals. Oh well! Now let’s look at
some of the highlights of the year. Surely
Crouch going through the entire season without winning one toss must rank
highly, so does 14 stitches to his eye (don’t let him tell you it was more
than that – he’s good now though). Shawn’s six at Warrandyte is
right up there (he hit a few pretty good 4’s as well), and so is Wilbo’s 46
against Warranwood and his catching and general fielding all year. Nappy’s
great fielding in the last game, and his giving it all for the whole
season. Adam’s 42 and Jake’s 39 in game one; our first win in round 3;
two in a row round 4 with Brad making a great 51; and a 106 partnership from
Brad (39) and Crouch (61no) to set up a win against Warrandyte were also great. Other
highlights included our cheer squad led by “Go Sainters” cheerleader Kathy
and ably supported by Shelly and Judy – fantastic support every week Thanks
must go to Doug Ackerly for organising former Australian Test Players Ray Bright
and Ian Callen to come and coach the boys. But that’s not all – Doug’s
energy, enthusiasm and his knowledge of the game and what makes it tick has been
really well appreciated by the boys and their parents. Is anyone surprised that
he used to talk for a living?? Thanks
also to Mouse, Shanga for terrific leadership throughout the year and to Jake
and Crouch for leading the boys on the field in a manner the club can be proud
of. Here
are some pics from the season:
