SEASON 2008/09 SUMMARY
The
juniors were looking to field 2 U/16 sides once again. Unfortunately with
some players pulling out early it was decided to have just the one side with 13
committed players available. The side was promoted to the U/16-2s this
season which was going to be a big ask. The boys performed reasonably well
having 2 wins and a tie for the year and all boys performing well in the senior
ranks with Adam Rixham and Robbie Deluca well up in the voting for Jackson
Harvey Medal.
Some
good performances for the year were Jake Cairns 100 not out against Warrandyte
and a 71 and 63, Robbie Deluca made 74 against Croydon and Adam Rixham 55
against Mooroolbark and 3 wickets for 3 runs. Shri Kotla took 4/28, Andrew
Williams 4/14 and Brendan Taylor's catch against Warrandyte was probably the
greatest highlight over the last few seasons!!
Thanks
go to Andrew Croucher for his great effort with the boys throughout the year and
once again to Mike Rixham and Neville Taylor for scoring all year. Also to
Greg Moorhouse who has helped out coaching juniors now for at least 10 years or
more. I'm sure Greg will be looking forward to a sleep in next season (I
think Bear should play U/18s). Thanks also to all the parents who continue to
support the boys every week.
New
players this season were Tony Lloyd, Tim Horwill and Alex Gibbs.
