Season 2016/17 saws us continue fielding 8 senior teams, and a new coach, Roger Young—the first time in a while we have had a non-playing coach. Pre-season was difficult with players having to travel to Saxons in Lilydale, but the players that made the effort got a lot out of it.

TheFirst XI were the focus of coach Roger, under the leadership of Cameron Sharpe (captain) and Sean Milton (vice captain).

We had great attendance at training throughout the season, and the Thursday night dinners are growing in reputation, especially when the HSP hit the rooms!

Although relegation of the First XI is not the ideal position to be in, we see it as a positive to continue to add games experience into the young guys. This begins the rebuilding from the First XI down and, coupled that with playing our best players in their appropriate teams, we will have a strong tilt at playing even more teams in finals next season.

It's an exciting time to a part of St. Andrews with very talented youngsters coming through including the 3 juniors that were lucky enough to play in the Seventh XI Grand Final.

Add an Under 14 premiership, and two Under 12 flags,  the future is bright.

I'd like to thank my committee who did an amazing job throughout the year, especially as it was my first—thanks for your guidance. Thank you also to the sponsors that support the club financially so we can do what we do.

2016/17 was a challenging year but we believe we have the opportunity to rebuild the club on and off the field, and become one of the strongest and most feared clubs in the RDCA.

Go Saints!
